Functional model of a wind tunnel, 2019

Most of the wind tunnels are there for testing. Almost everything is tested in them: Cars, airplanes, rockets and also flies, people or baseballs. The testing is followed by the optimization. The motion technologies of the 20th and 21st centuries are products of the wind tunnel. There is also a wind tunnel on the roof of the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK). The artistic wind tunnel is a place that makes it possible to experience the wind differently again and again. Optimisation and control of nature become reflexive in itself. Scientific flow research has domesticated the wind in channels in order to make it laminar and testable, to measure it and even to record it photographically or on film.
